About Stavanger Jazz Forum

Stavanger Jazz Forum was founded in 1989 with the intention of promoting jazz and improvised music. An important part of this work is organising concerts. Each year, we present a host of leading Norwegian and international jazz artists in Stavanger and are also involved in developing the local jazz scene. SJF makes use of a number of the city’s venues. The list of artists we have presented over the years is long and illustrious: Pat Metheny, Betty Carter, John McLaughlin, Jan Garbarek, Chick Corea, Al Di Meola, Diana Krall, Dianne Reeves, Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul to name but a few. The best of Norwegian and local jazz has also received exposure. In 2006, SJF was named Norway’s best jazz club by the Norwegian Jazz Forum.
