Sasquatch

For the first time, Stavanger Jazzforum presents the energetic young and exciting Sasquatch group, which has its roots in the jazz department at the University of Stavanger in 2005. Since then, the ensemble has played 40 concerts in Norway and abroad, and been well received.

This year they are finally presenting their first album, working from modern acoustic jazz tradition with a focus on strong melody and exciting musical solutions. The band has three wind players and a double bass player plus a percussionist. Arild Hoem with his sax, Magnus Röd Haugland on the double bass and Dag Magnus Narvesen on his drums are all strong figures in Stavanger's musical life, participating in groups such as Gunhild Seim's Time Jungle and Kitchen Orchestra. Additional players in this ensemble are Thomas Johansson, trumpet and André Roligheten, sax. Roligheten has won the jazz intro plus the Best Group award in the European Jazz competition, both with the Albatrosh duo. We look forward to an exciting concert and new album.
