Artist
Anne Marie Giørtz
In June 2009, Anne Marie Giörtz presented her first album for 10 years, and the first ever to contain only her own music. She may be best known from the successful groups Trio de Janeiro and Ab und Zu,.but she has had a long and varied career.
For the album ”På egne vegne” she used very diverse texts by Scandinavian poets: Bodil Malmsten, Aksel Sandemose, Dagny Juel (sjekk om hun kanskje skal ha to l-er), Egil Ulateig and Unni Lundell, plus some of Hartvig Kiran's renderings of Shakespeare sonnets. The music has a wide span, from the dark and expressive to low-key ballads.
For this album she collaborated with Eivind Aarset and Peter Baden, the latter a teacher colleague at the NISS in Oslo with whom she collaborates for the first time here. About her collaboration with Eivind Aarset she says "of course it is incredible fun to work with him. We have lived a long life together, but never collaborated this closely. He has the ability to open a soundscape, creating space and air. He adds sounds, but instead of making it thicker - something that happens very easily - he just opens a new space. Fascinating and fun." It will be a great pleasure to hear Giörtz' expressive voice play with this rich material.
